FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How big is the team at Vestibule Press?
We are small—just a few friends with "real jobs" doing this on the side as a creative outlet. If you are interested in finding a way to work together somehow, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Where is the team based?
We are based in Los Angeles, CA with some roots in NYC.
What is the Soft Opening? When will the official launch be?
Right now, we're still in a "soft opening" posture while we polish up our initial line of product offerings and put together our marketing channels. We don't have a set in stone official release date yet. In the mean time, we encourage you to take advantage of our pre-release sale, and send along any feedback. Once we're officially launched, you'll be able to download the updated copies from the same download link you received after purchasing it.
Will there be print versions of the adventures?
Yes! We are currently scoping out options. Our ideal is to work with a local printer that makes art-quality books and zines. Beyond a small initial test run, we will likely need to do a group buy or crowd funding model for larger batches.
Where did the inspiration for the name Eolay come from?
The inspiration came from a small chain of volcanic islands near Italy called the Aeolian Islands. This reference fits because it anchors the story in some of the important themes for the setting: the volatility of nature, ecology, and economies, and a connection to ancient history and mythology.
What are your biggest outside inspirations overall?
Fans of Ursula K Le Guin's Wizard of Earthsea will probably feel right at home in Eolay, as that's been an important fantasy touch-point for the setting and story thematics. Some of the staff's favorite RPG video games are Pillars of Eternity, EverQuest, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
What do you mean by a "modular setting"?
We liked the idea of an island because it would be pretty easily slotted-in with other existing TTRPG fantasy settings. If you want to add the island to your world, just plop the whole archipelago into a southern sea with a dry temperate climate, and adapt its local customs with those of the mainland. We wanted the scope of the setting to be small enough so that new GMs aren't overwhelmed by the lore.
What game systems do your adventurers support?
As of now, we're focusing on 5E 2024 rules, but are exploring offering versions adapted for other popular fantasy TTRPG systems as well. If you have an idea of what you wish we supported, please voice your opinion.
Do you use generative AI in your products?
No, nothing we ever put on sale will have generated content in it. We're going for an authentic, human-made aesthetic.
